CTFc: Toughening and tempering glass with high standards

Thanks to its modular design and our engineers’ decades of experience, the CTF furnace is extremely easy to maintain. For example, the heating elements can be pulled out at the side and replaced without waiting for the entire furnace to cool down first. The CTFc combines the benefits of heat transfer via convection with the pragmatic capabilities of conventional radiant heaters, all with the highest quality. Its glass quality for premium standards is impressive, and the furnace also features a modular design that makes servicing fast – on the rare occasions it is necessary in spite of the low-maintenance technology. The CTFc can be fully integrated into HEGLA system solutions and expanded by adding batch optimisation, automated batch formation and self-learning recipe optimisation functions.

Functional description

The automated batch – or the batch created manually by the operator – is fed into the tempering furnace. The top of the glass is heated by means of convection: heating elements are used to heat the air in the convection elements at the top of the furnace. Through nozzles arranged at close intervals, the warm air is transferred onto the coated or uncoated top surface of the glass. Without no direct reflection from the radiators in the convection boxes, the top of the glass remains protected against uncontrolled transformations thanks to the shielded heat transfer.

Sensors located close to the glass record the temperature at all times and directly trigger adjustments to the heat transfer in accordance with the stored recipes. For perfect results, the glass is oscillated in the furnace at the same time to ensure flat surfaces.

Once it reaches the transformation temperature, the glass is removed from the furnace and quickly, appropriately and professionally cooled by applying a precisely controlled air current to the surface of the glass.
